PDC BITS are drilling tools uses polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) cutters to shear rock with a continuous scraping motion. These cutters are synthetic diamond disks about 8mm--13mm. Thick and about 13mm--16mm. In diameter. PDC bits are effective at drilling at soft to medium rock formation, as shale, limestone, dolomite and sandstone formations, especially when used in combination with oil-base muds. These bits are normally used at higher rotation speeds when drilling in certain formations, most typically homogeneous sedimentary rock formations.
PDC bits are designed for high speed drilling in shale, limestone, and sandstone formations.
These bits are a one piece solid steel body with no moving parts. The fixed-cutters shave away the rock, making it possible to operate with higher rotation speeds more efficiently in consolidated formations.
